V5.3 · crowned design intent

A private secretary, with one line.

The current direction is 130 × 31.5 × 12 millimetres, shaped around a credible standard-cell route with a glossy black front and polished metal rear. The flat Constellation face, camera, asymmetric light and visible side control remain. This is design intent—not finished hardware.

Before

Prepare me.

Return the relationship, open decisions and questions that matter now.

During

Remember this.

Keep a deliberate, visibly signalled moment after everyone has consented.

After

Resolve the work.

Return what changed, who owns it and the next move—not a transcript dump.

Act only on my say-so.

The governing promise is user control: propose, confirm, show state and return a receipt. It is not a fourth grab-bag of autonomous features.

The current ledger

What fits inside the idea.

The memorable numbers are useful only with their evidence state attached. Supplier selection, runtime, radio performance and certification remain open until physical prototypes prove them.

FormApproved design intent

130 × 31.5 × 12.0 mm

The extra 2.5 mm of length and width creates room for a standard-cell format, RF separation and assembly access. The V5.2 appearance direction retains the controlled 12 mm envelope.

Rear and local controlApproved design intent

Full black front · colour-matched rear cap

The front stays flat within its R3 edge roll. The camera and wordmark remain on the opposite metal rear. The visible long-side force control keeps its existing status, flight-mode and protected-shutdown meanings; its detailed load path remains open.

Light and cameraApproved design intent

Asymmetric light · mandatory camera

The interaction relationship remains; exact V4.9 coordinates do not. A physical capture cutoff and hardware-coupled outward indicator remain architectural requirements.

The line writesApproved design intent

One continuous yellow line · five things it may say

Under V5.3 the 57.3 × 3 mm strip is a one-line display. Saint speaks first; the line writes only what is easier to read than to hear: who is calling in Silent mode, the one thing you must not mishear, the confirmation above the swipe, the pairing code, the next turn on a walk. No clock, no counts, no menus, no scrolling. The display part, its brightness through the cover and the board stack beneath it are unqualified.

USB-C and strapPending validation

Centred, recessed connection

The connection and independent strap presence remain, but their V5.2 datums and load path require new placed CAD. The connector shell must not take strap loads.

MassEstimate

To be recalculated for V5.3

The former 67.4 g V4.9 roll-up is comparison evidence, not a V5.3 estimate. Mass must be recalculated after the wider rear, pack, carrier and boards are placed.

BatteryEngineering target

650 mAh nominal standard-cell reference

The placed study reserves 51 × 23.5 mm in plan and 7.5 mm total depth around a 50 × 22.5 × 6.5 mm protected-pack reference. No cell or supplier is selected.

EndurancePending validation

One working day is the promise to prove.

It is not yet a runtime claim. Coverage, cellular transmit duty, camera use, listening and battery aging will define the honest duty cycle.

ChargingEngineering target

USB-C 5 V · 80% in ≤75 min

The charge-time target applies only if cell limits and enclosure temperature can be verified during worst-case simultaneous use.

Compute and connectionPending validation

Local controller · Cat-1 bis · BLE · Wi-Fi

An nRF54LM20B-class controller and Cat-1 bis cellular path are candidate classes, not frozen parts. RF, antenna and market support require EVT testing.

Voice and visionEngineering target

Three microphones · private receiver · camera

The architecture aims for far-field speech, ear-level private listening and deliberate document or scene capture. Acoustic and optical performance are unmeasured.

Finish and servicePending validation

Four finish studies

We are studying polished gold, silver, pale champagne and gunmetal. Every rear cap matches its metal colour and remains dielectric. These are appearance studies, not released variants. Ingress, drops, repair and finish life remain qualification work.

ConstellationApproved design intent

438 appearance points

The fixed dense-core field is inherited from V4.5. It defines the face’s appearance; acoustic openings remain separate engineering work. Why 438 points? →

The controlled dimension study is available on the product page. Deeper component documents remain internal while supplier drawings and prototype evidence are under review.

Before a production claim

What still has to be proven.

V5.3 is an accepted design direction, not released geometry or a qualified device. Existing V4.9 imagery, engraving, study serials and regulatory-mark rows remain historical placement studies only.

  1. Close the crowned 12 mm tolerance stack with a non-compressive battery swelling and removal path.
  2. Qualify a complete protected pack: capacity, pulse behaviour, protection, NTC, swelling, cycles, safety evidence, terms and second-source path.
  3. Prove antenna efficiency, conducted RF, over-the-air performance and poor-signal power around the shorter, wider pack and final materials.
  4. Prove the yellow line reads through the cover at 150 cd/m² and that touch survives above it.
  5. Print the crowned V5.3 article and test it blind against the held V4.9 prototype across grip, pocket, table stability, side-control use and one-hand orientation.
  6. Validate the regenerated camera, light, USB-C, control, audio, strap, marking and antenna datums.
  7. Complete EVT, DVT, certification and production acceptance before publishing measured runtime, regulatory approval or shipment claims.
